SEED ZINE by Alex Santana, 2021

A zine about the author's new experience growing her own plants, this text explores the connections between organic growth and conceptual art. Its cover is composed of paper recycled by the author and embedded with a variety of Northeastern wildflower seeds.

First run of 50, self- designed, printed, cut, assembled, and stapled on high quality paper with color art.

PROGRAMA POLÍTICO (en un estado perpetuo de revolución)

El poder en manos de le productori. Esta habilidad no es un regalo. SVPRESS ha tomado poder sobre sus producciones, con el objetivo de ver esta progresión hacia su resolución natural. En la medida de lo posible, los medios de producción, la tecnología o el espacio, empoderan a quien crea desde principi la obra. ¡Enfrentándose! de frente a las limitaciones de las circunstancias reales, SVPRESS construye los textos desde abajo hacia arriba: comienza con la conceptualización, luego pasa al maketeo digital, hasta terminar en la forma concreta. SVPRESS colabora equitativamente, de acuerdo al contexto de cada colaboradori; por eso siempre está abierto al diálogo.
Romper con el lenguaje como la sociedad civil ha quebrantado el espíritu humano. Nuestras lenguas – nuestro órgano mental – son claves para nuestra humanidad inherente, nuestra psique evolucionada, nos ayuda a sobrevivir a lo largo de la historia. No obstante, esta misma bendición funciona también como nuestro peor veneno. La modernidad tóxica ha hecho que lxs humanxs nos impongamos por encima de la naturaleza. Estas creencias cegadoras desarrollan sistemas nocivos que nos separa de nuestra madre originaria y de/entre nosotres mismes. Bajo el disfraz de la civilización, el lenguaje es herramienta principal de esta represión. Ejemplo de esto lo es la larga historia de leyes injustas amputando nuestra supuesta progresión social humana. Con esto en mente, SVPRESS desafía las formalidades de la civilización recordando que nada es especial; sin embargo, todo contiene belleza: la descomposición es lenguaje. Por esta razón, SVPRESS proporciona espacio a quienes normalmente el cistema descuartiza.
La academia debe ser destruida. No puede ser reestructurada, ya demasiado tiempo por el camino del neoliberalismo y la adoctrinación de la ente individual. En una sociedad retorcida la educación es violencia. Como contrapropuesta, SVPRESS encuentra aprendizaje más allá de las cuatro paredes del salón. Por eso Alice Cooper, un poeta de las tierras de los Anishinaabe, grita, "¡Se acabó la escuela para siempre!"
No hay mendicidad burguesa. La revolución no será concedida después de la fecha límite y menos por personas cuyas posiciones de poder se basan en el statu quo. ¿Pagarán voluntariamente por reparaciones? La clase alta y explotadora, independientemente de los matices, deben perder para lograr el equilibrio. Por tal razón, SVPRESS no solicita financiamiento; sino que implementa una táctica de voluntad, capacidad intelectual, sangre, sudor, lágrimas y otros fluidos corporales.

SVPRESS PROGRAM (in a perpetual state of revolution)

Power in the producer’s hands. This ability is not godsent. SVPRESS has gained power over its productions, aiming to see this progression until its natural resolution. To the extent possible, the means of production, technology or space, empower those who begin the creative process. Confronting! head-on the restraints of circumstances, SVPRESS builds the texts from the bottom-up: ideal conception, to digital formatting, to material reality. SVPRESS collaborates equitably, according to the context of fellow producers. For this reason, SVPRESS is always open to dialogue.
Break the language as civil society has broken the human spirit. Our tongues – our mental organ – are keys to our inherent humanity, our evolved psyches, which have aided our survival through history; yet this same blessing also functions as our worst poison. Toxic modernity has caused humans to impose ourselves over nature. These blinding beliefs lead us to develop all sorts of noxious systems which not only separate us from our original mother but also amongst our fellow peoples. Under the guise of civilization, language is the principal tool of repression, notable in the long history of unjust laws amputating our supposed social progression. For this reason, SVPRESS defies civil society’s formalities, to highlight that nothing is special yet all contains beauty: decay is language. Accordingly, SVPRESS provides a space for those normally butchered by the cistem.
Academia must be burned down. It cannot be reformed for it’s far too gone down the path of neoliberalism, indoctrinating the individual self. In a twisted society, education is violence. At a counterpoint, SVPRESS finds learning beyond the four walls of a classroom. It’s why Alice Cooper, a poet from the lands of the Anishinaabe, yowled, “School’s out forever!”
No bourgeois begging. The revolution will not be granted post-deadline and less so by people whose positions of power rely on the status quo. Will the oppressor willingly pay for reparations? The upper-and-exploiting classes, regardless of nuance, must lose to bring balance. Therefore SVPRESS will never apply for funding; rather, practicing strategic implementation of will, intellectual capacity, blood, sweat, tears, and other bodily fluids.
